Thanks to the internet, all “local papers” can be “global papers”.
The ugly truth is that while they were raking in the local advertising dollars they got lazy and weren’t building an infrastructure to cover local news with an original slant. They were just rehashing the wire service.
Then along came the internet …
Oops! The Newspaper Emperor had no clothes after all.
The internet just accelerated the newspaper crisis. They seem to have been doing themselves in before all by themselves.
