I’ve been too busy running around like a chicken with my head cut off to worry about what happened to the Overture keyword suggestion tool…
But when I went to check it tonight it still is dead as a door nail.
The only conversations I’ve had indicated they thought it was a short term problem but I doubt it.
But perhaps the announcement on the main Overture.com sight that it’s now “Yahoo Search Marketing” is the only announcement we’re going to get.
After all, this tool has been up “forever”. Overture.com has given the use of it’s bandwidth and proprietary data away to every Tom, Dick, and Harry wanting to sell a keyword suggestion tool for so long, it’s amazing it’s been up there at all.
Do you see Google giving away their stats? Heck no. They give you some graphics now indicating relative keyword traffic, but you still really can’t tell if that half bar is 100 per month or 100,000 because it all varies by the keyword.
It’s sad because the average online marketer was greatly helped by this tool, but most of the people using it were never going to give Overture.com a red cent anyway.
I hope they’ll put it back up because it’s absence primarily hurts the small internet marketers who were just trying to optimize web pages.
But there’s no such thing as a free lunch and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s gone permanently, though I hope not.
Maybe Overture.com’s suggestion tool needs a donation button?
Check it yourself…

Well this assures me it wasn’t just me it wasn’t working for. Pheew!
I don’t think it’s permanent. I say that because why would they still have the landing page viewable? Hopefully its just glitched and there, so to say just don’t care enough to fix it at the moment.
Anyway, if its gone forever. I feel bad for future web owners.
Anyone up for front page link exchanges, feel free to e-mail me
