How To Make Money Creating Websites In The Small Business Market

September 11, 2007 by Chuck | 8 Comments

Sooner or later every small business that advertises knows they need to be online.

Most small businesses ARE in the Yellow Pages, but the only calls they get are from people trying to set up their merchant account or otherwise sell them something. Only rarely do Yellow Page ads pay off right away for new businesses.

Yellow Page ads can also costs hundreds of dollars per month depending on the marketplace and th size of the ad… even “nothing” ads are $50 per month in the boondocks. I know – I’ve paid for them!

What’s worse for small business is that the Yellow Pages are dying. The internet for local search is BOOMING and that’s where every small business needs to be.

Most websites sold to small businesses DO NOT work because 1) they are technically flawed and not “search engine” friendly in the first place and 2) are not positioned to generate inquiries from real people looking to do business.

If you can solve those problems cost effectively and still make a profit that justifies your efforts, then creating websites for small business COULD just be the work at home program you’re looking for.

Skip Rosell’s Small Business Cash Machine costs next to nothing and yet reveals a simple method to enter the small business website market profitably.

You’ll learn

1. How to spend no more than $5 per month per customer leaving you a 83% gross profit margin after your fixed costs.

2. How to set up and maintain each site in under 30 minutes per month or less.

3. How to do so without playing the “website design” game but still produce a professional looking website.

4. How to get real people to visit the site without fancy “search engine optimization” or expensive “pay per click” ad campaigns – a few visitors per week for a local business can double the business’ volume inside of a year.

5. How to get the business owner to do most of the work as you set up the site minimizing your time investment and maximizing your profits.

(Did you notice this also makes Skip’s book a dirt cheap guide to making your own results producing small business website?)

Plus – order your copy through this link, read it cover to cover, and then send a copy of your PayPal receipt to chuck @ business-opportunities.biz (remove the spaces before hitting “send”) and I’ll send you my response to Skip after reading his report about how to reduce the $5 per month fixed cost even further and producing a cleaner website for the small business. It’s a simple idea that fits on just one page, but I think your customers will be much happier with the arrangement I suggest and happy customers mean longer term profits.

You paint a very rosy picture of how you can just throw up a website and have things working and the orders rolling in. I’m actually annoyed enough by this concept – often from small business owners – that I’m going to add a blog entry to the company blog about it.

Websites are like all other forms of marketing – they require good planning and sustained effort to make them pay off. Often the biggest obstacle faced by many small businesses is they have not yet acquired the “business mentality” of spotting opportunities coming their way.

    Brian,

The problem most small businesses have is

    1) Having no website to capture the increasing use of the internet for local search.

    2) Having no website that is positioned to obtain traffic from local searches.

And no I didn’t say orders would come “rolling in”. What was said was that if local businesses could begin getting local inquiries weekly or monthly, over a year, they could double their business from local customers.

That assumes they don’t otherwise antagonize them or fail to serve them.

For people wanting to help small businesses get started, this is a good report. But since you haven’t read it, you’re really just reacting to what you think is being said.

There are some things I think that can be done to better serve the business. That’s why I’m offering a report to add to what is written here to make things more efficient for the business.

    Chuck,

Sorry – I did not mean to confuse. – it is *small business owners* that I encounter who have this attitude that a website will have order rolling in. As an example I have one customer who we put a website up for. With no SEO work it actually ranked very highly in Google (first page!) and after 3 months he phoned us up to complain that he wasn’t rich yet! Another business pulled their website 6 weeks after publication because the orders weren’t rolling in.

I know it is not just us that has this problem – other web companies in my area are experiencing it too. I’ve started the blog entry on this and I’ll post a link when I publish it – if you have no objections to that!

You’re right, I haven’t read that report, but since we are registered with local business development agencies specifically to assist start-ups and we do a couple of dozen per moth, I’ve come across most of this stuff already as well as the unrealistic expectations many people place on websites.

Like all forms of marketing they require work and effort be successful.

    An extra thought…..

Good for you – but please manage their expectations. The streets of the web are NOT paved with gold, but you *can* make money there if you work at it. IMHO! ;-)

    Brian,

My apologies for not having read your intent more clearly.

    I agree.
