I don’t think most truck drivers consider themselves as having a “home based business” or “working from home”.
At best – it’s working at your “home away from home”.
But more Baby Boomers are taking to the road as documented by this Louisville Business Journal article.
I happen to know several score of would be truck drivers.
The biggest obstacle is being away from home.
The ones that make the transition best are the ones
1) Without children at home, especially if
2) Their spouse can drive with them (sometimes as a team operation)
But people deceive themselves about the ease of making this transition because you can be driving a truck with a company training driver alongside you in as little as 4 weeks.
While it promises good money – $5,000 per month or more – that involves long hours. Our local schools tell people to expect $35,000 to $40,000 first year.
Alot of times, it’s turning out to be a “transitional job” until new positions in the economy open up.
