Full time telecommuters are actually rare - 2% of the workforce.
Here is one who is a full time internal auditor. Living east of her job’s base in San Francisco, she gets a jump on the business day which may help too.
From the Great Falls Montana Tribune:
Her computer hooks into the company’s computer network and has extra security protection and her phone has a three digit extension that can be used by her co-workers in California.
Van Sickle telecommutes as the internal audit and compliance manager for a credit union in San Francisco. She visits her other office — the one in a California office building — once every two months, but otherwise, she works from the comfort of her home.
“I have a pretty good setup here at home,” Van Sickle said.
She is part of the 2 percent of full-time working adults who telecommute.
The share of telecommuters in the United States would grow to 25 percent of the adult workforce if everyone who had the option to telecommute or whose job lends itself to telecommuting did so, according to the University of Maryland survey.
