If you are looking for bargains, you may find some new ones as the State of Illinois begins to auction their surplus public and other goods on Ebay.

Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias said today his office will begin auctioning off the contents of abandoned safe-deposit boxes using eBay, creating a “virtual yard sale that spans the globe.”

Next week’s auction will range from a platinum diamond and sapphire ring to a collection of silver dollars. Starting opening bids will range from $1 to $2,100.

The entire collection, valued at about $20,000, is on display at the Illinois State Fair.
