Here’s another scam designed to help identity thieves. Avoid it.
Other than the fact that I live in nowhere’s ville where the only Mandarin speakers are at the Chinese restaurant (which itself is a good clue) cashing checks checks for 10% is a classic scam. Even certified checks, if fraudulent, are no good.
Contact the US Secret Service or local law enforcement if this has happened to you, no matter how little you’ve lost.
