If you’re a business owner, buying a heavy SUV over 6000 lbs. can be a legitimate tax deduction.
The most obvious SUV in this category is the “Hummer”
The tax break was originally envisioned for “businesses” like farmers buying tractors or companies buying a flatbed truck as “working vehicles”.
But evidently driving a Hummer with a company name isn’t considered a proper “business use” even though the vehicles are “eye catchers” and when one drives by boasting a corporate name or slogan, hundreds of drivers per day will take notice.
But the Senate is hard at work on this symbolic piece of legislation to close this tax loophole that will just keep fewer politicians from driving Hummer’s and Cadillac Escalades.
In the meantime, you may still want to get that Hummer while the tax loophole lasts!
