The Telework Consortium is a non profit trying to promote telework. They workwith public agencies and private industry in coming up with telework solutions.
Part of that is monitoring broadband availability.
They work mostly with government agencies and here’s the current “state of the art”
One of the things they’re working on is a national web based information resource that lets people see broadband availability in their area.
Of course all the politicians were there telling how they were going to save society by passing laws to tell everyone else how to save society while they take the credit.
There are some really bogus things going on with broadband… like calling the slow poke internet connections at some motels “high speed”.
And I did find out that the FCC makes things look better for broadband access than they really are. If one person in a zip code has broadband access, they consider the whole zip code “served”.
And of course all the local politicians are sucking up to Washington to get Big Daddy to take your money and fund their broadband.
