I wrote about this “power writer” on Associated Content the other day. What I didn’t know was that she has published 2000 articles since 2005 with Associated Content! Even if she doesn’t write another artcle she’ll still be earning hundreds of dollars per month in performance bonuses. Not too bad.
Here’s how she got 59,031 page views in just 7 days.
What I liked about her article is that her topics, for example, don’t fit “Digg’s” categories so she’s not just an overnight Digg created wonder.
So what’s her secret? Even if she doesn’t expect a very high up front offer on an article, she may still write it if she thinks there are people who’ll be searching for such information. Or it may just be something she’d like more information about. Those people will translate into page views thanks to the search engines and can lead to page views on her other articles.
Consider them “bait” for building her performance bonus.
Next she tries to write articles that - hopefully - may appeal to a variety of niche audiences.
Another simple, but obvious, tip is to ask yourself “what is everyone else looking for on the web?” That’s why she’s written on topics like Paris Pageview Hilton…
But she doesn’t frequently do that. Just when the topic seems irresistable.
She also has started blogging and linking back to her posts to boost her pageviews.
So there’s been no ONE technique to build her wave of pageviews… just lots of hard work over the last 2 years writing on “searchable” topics.
Note: I’ve contacted her to ask some questions just for you (and me too!). I hope she’ll respond so I can publish her responses.
Here are my questions:
1) Do you suggest submitting as non-exclusive or exclusive?
2) How do you raise the offers for your articles?
3) I saw how you planned your week on another article. It seems you’ve averaged writing @ 4 articles per work day M-F. Is that about right?
4)Are you able to make a full time living just from your up front fees?
5)My first article was approved in 24 hours and paid in 48. My second article is still pending after several days. What’s your average turn around time for a) an offer and b) payment?
6)Do you have any other tips for aspiring professional writers?
