Why Stay In School - Part 1 - The Impact of Globalization

Hi folks, Associated Content just accepted my latest article: Why Stay In School - Part 1 - The Impact of Globalization

It’s based on part of a presentation I created for juniors and seniors in High School who still think they can get a “factory job” even though the US officially became a “service economy” (more service sector jobs than factory jobs) in the sixties and now is an “information” economy.

But because companies like eSys use virtual receptionists housed in India to greet customers over Voip in Los Angeles and McDonalds was experimenting with off shore call centers to handle orders at their drive thru windows, even unskilled “fall back” labor is heading out the door.

So this article is derived from a presentation to warn folks about that trend and get them building their skills.

The article isn’t “live” yet but should be soon. You can check out my page here.

Update: The link is now live here

If I do write more on this, I’ll post them on a Squidoo lense too.

What’s your favorite money making myth? These trends show you can’t even “start at the bottom and work up” because the bottom is being sent to India.
