There’s a dark side to working at home. It’s best to find out about it now and deal with it rather than letting the problems fester and – possibly destroy your life?
What is that problem? Isolation.
For some it’s outright addiction. Last night’s CBS News reported on a couple who became so addicted to playing internet games – for example – that they stopped taking care of their sons and even stopped going to work in order to play online games. Their finances are in a shambles and now they’re headed for divorce because while one spouse has realized the consequences of this internet enabled isolation, the other is still in denial.
The same can happen under the guise of “working at home”.
Fortunately most people don’t go that far.
Still, isolation can be a problem.
In this issue of The Nettle (free subscription required to get further issues, but you can download this issue for free) , Dylan Campbell talks about why internet marketers are vulnerable to this problem and simple steps to unravel the mess if you’re in it. Most of the steps are free … resources (and I’m not talking about a ‘12 step group’ for internet marketers!) are usually available locally to help you break out of the tunnel vision!
It’s as simple as learning how to stimulate that part of your brain that “goes dead” when you’re on a forum and why doing this actually gives you the advantage even if your business is “online”.
This is the first issue I’ve seen of The Nettle, but this article hit home and I commend it to you!
