Tell The FDA Not To Regulate Vitamins, Minerals, Herbs, and Water

The Food and Drug Administration - after telling us Vioxx was “safe” until it killed thousands along with other travesties - now wants to assume god like powers to ”regulate” vitamins, minerals, herbs, and natural substances like fruit juices and water if they’re used to “treat disease”.

Ever since I’ve been around nutritional MLMs there has always been the fear/rumor like this.

This time it seems to be true - and there’s an opportunity for public comment as you’ll see below.

American Medicine is great when it comes to “fixing” things surgically, but the medicinal side is completely governed by whatever outfit has the bucks to boondoggle the FDA. That’s why there’s thousands of effective but unpatentable “orphan” drugs that won’t foreseeably be allowed to save lives because they won’t ever be a cash cow for the pharmaceutical companies. Yet the drugs that are being pushed are often more dangerous as the conditions they “treat”.

Now the FDA wants to keep you from receiving any information about natural substances that might help you and keep you from getting it in quantities you may wish to have without a prescription.

Do you want to pay $100 for an office visit (which won’t be covered by insurance) to get your multivitamin prescription if your doctor will let you have one?

If this aggravates you - and I think it should - tell the FDA to stop playing God.

It’s really questionable whether they should continue to exist in their current form, but that’s another question entirely. Just tell them to get their greedy paws off natural substances!

The Food and Drug Administration says vitamins, supplements, herbs and other natural substances, including water when it is used to “treat” dehydration, should be classified as drugs, and opponents have only until April 30 to express their concern about the proposals under Docket No. 2006D-0480.  [Chuck’s Note: the comment period has been extended into May, so leave your comment SOON!]
