States Plan For Flu Pandemic May Affect Your Business

Nationwide, state departments of health are planning for deadly flu pandemics.

You can go to your state government’s website, click the link to the state Department of Health and go from there.

Usually it will be listed under “communicable” diseases. If you can’t find it - call.

These plans usually request community involvement and may include discussions about telework or telecommuting as business continuity measures that could be REQUIRED if a state of emergency is declared as a result of the flu.

If you run a business you may want to check into these plans to give input or see what other businesses plan to do in the event of a flu emergency.

How would your business survive?

Unders such “emergency orders”… public groups of over 100 people may be banned, schools closed, churches closed, and even businesses may be closed under plans to implement “social distancing” to reduce the spread of disease. Businesses with commercial kitchens may be pressed into service to provide emergency meals.

You may be suprised how “Jericho” or “apocalyptic” this all sounds: One state site plan I saw indicated plans for a flagging system where families are instructed to post a number of yellow flags equal to the number of sick people in the home needing assistance or the number of black flags needed to indicate how many dead need to be removed.

If you don’t want to be taken by suprise during next year’s flu season… find out now what’s being planned with or without your input.
