Online Entrepreneurship Degree Programs

As our society looks for new, smart answers for seemingly insoluble problems, we’re quickly realizing that the answers may be found in entrepreneurship, the art of asking “what if we did __________?” Entrepreneurship isn’t limited to the business world… a new breed of “social entrepreneurs” are cropping up too because social problems – as well as marketplace problems – require innovation and risk taking.

But such studies aren’t just for folks who want to “be their own boss”. These programs are for those who want to function entrepreneurially in larger corporations that need to maintain a cutting entrepreneurial edge.

And as society at large recognizes the need for more entrepreneurs to come to the rescue, another trend responds to the need. That trend is online education. As a result, online entrepreneurship degree programs are beginning to proliferate at both the masters and bachelor’s level.

The EarnMyDegree.com website offers an introduction to many online degrees but also has a section specializing in entrepreneurship in addition to many other degree categories. I found the breadth of topics suprisingly broad actually. But back to entrepreneurship.

Kaplan, Walden, and Jones offer online MBA programs in the field of entrepreneurship. Likewise, Strayer and Ellis teach entrepreneurship on an undergraduate basis. I really didn’t expect to see that many offerings in the field of online entrepreneurship degree programs, but I expect this segement of the online education market to grow and for this type of degree to become more popular in corporate/non-profit circles.
