Should Small Business People Invest In Silver?
We all love to work and hopefully love our businesses.
But it’s good to save for a rainy day whether you plan to “retire” per se or not.
Just a few years ago Warren Buffett couldn’t find too many bargains in the stock market. So where did he put his money? In silver. From time to time I run into home business folks who take the same approach when investing long term.
Why is that? It goes back to what Will Rogers reportedly said – he’d rather be assured of the return OF his money, than hear about impossible returns ON his money. That about sums up the reasons for people to invest in silver… they just don’t believe that the stock market is going to remain safe for the long haul.
So how do ordinary people do that? I wouldn’t go down to the pawn shop to buy silver coins. At least not without checking other sources for silver first!
How do you invest in silver? There are a couple of ways… bullion silver coins or ingots. Last time I checked, if they’re in the right depository (not buried in your back yard) you can even put precious metals in your retirement plan. Of course as long as it’s not “tax qualified” for retirement purposes, you can take personal delivery too. Warren didn’t tell me personally but I bet he kept his in the bank. It’s easy to find out if that’s what you want to do though.
For example, through Monex Deposit Company (MDC) you can purchase silver or other precious metals for immediate personal delivery or arrange for convenient and safe storage at an independent bank or depository. In other words, you don’t have to dig a hole in the back yard to store your silver. Especially since you could forget where you put it or if you don’t dig enough you dog might find it. Monex has been around 30 years… a very long time in the metals business.
When’s a good time to buy silver? I’m not an investment advisor so go ask a professional. But most people’s problem is never getting around to purchasing anything anytime. So doing some on a regular basis lets you make sure you’re accumulating something.
People who work in the silver market believe that currently world demand exceeds annual production and this has been a trend for quite some time. For this – and because a silver coin should always be worth SOMETHING – sliver meets Will Roger’s dictum of getting the return OF your money.
