I’m rebuilding a page on my wife’s journey into the world of Home Medical Transcription, though it’s still under construction.
But the training provider she used is expanding. The provider Oak Horizons works through local community colleges to “market” their training. But the training is all online. Currently, community colleges in Conneticut, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, and Virginia offer the training. Oak Horizon’s is also offering their training through a firm in New Zealand!
Personally, I can’t vouch for any of the online training for people who want to do home medical transcription. I can vouch for Oak Horizons. Contact them through their website if you’re looking for Medical Transcription training.
They can
1. Help you enroll in their course through a participating school and
2. Help you take advantage of newly created apprenticeship programs that will help graduates get their first job upon finishing!

Are there pell grants for this job?

Contact Oak Horizons, see if there is a school near you, and see if that particular school has gotten approval to teach the course for credit. It then may be available for Pell and sometimes state lottery grants depending on the state.
