As an avid user of Gmail, I have to say that too many newsletters is a bad thing. More than one newsletter has found it's way into my spam filter because I've been so annoyed with them sending so many. I consider more than one a fortnight to be too many.

Also, content is key. The one newsletter I would never unsubscribe to is an SEO one that I get every 2 weeks, and is relevant. Another is Trendspotting. Once a month, all good ideas.
