Should You Have A Newsletter, Blog, or Booklet?

Should you have a newsletter, blog or tips booklet? Paulette Ensign says “yes”. As she points out, these are not mutually exclusive answers.

Do you have a blog? Check out your biggest categories and see which of the gems in the largest categories can be turned into a tips booklet(s) or information product?

Do you have a tips booklet? Load a tip per week for a year into the autoresponder  to keep your name in front of your prospects and build a relationship so you can profit when you have a special offer to broadcast.

It really doesn’t matter. Start anywhere and expand or contract into the other three. Each one of those formats will appeal to some slice of the population and will cross-market to your other formats. Worried about the time it takes? Do it piece-meal. There’s increasing popularity in writing a book by creating a daily blog entry. I’ve also advocated writing a book by creating a series of booklets and then combining them. If you’ve already done the book, you’ve got lots of material to slice up for blog entries, tipsbooklets, and newsletter articles. Like so much else in life, no matter where you start, the important thing is that you do start!

As an avid user of Gmail, I have to say that too many newsletters is a bad thing. More than one newsletter has found it’s way into my spam filter because I’ve been so annoyed with them sending so many. I consider more than one a fortnight to be too many.

Also, content is key. The one newsletter I would never unsubscribe to is an SEO one that I get every 2 weeks, and is relevant. Another is Trendspotting. Once a month, all good ideas.
