I don’t claim to be a blogging software expert.
I started out with blogger (and still use it to create blogs to play with or as a low cost platform for a church, school, or non-profit agency needing a web presence). The new blogger template used in the church link above was very flexible for creating most of what was needed. Combined with some free tools, a domain name, and a logo (the most expensive item was the custom logo) it produces a very workable host for groups needing to minimize expenses. Custom logos are the most expensive. One like this can cost over $300 depending on what the group needs.
Since blogging at the wonderful, awesome, fantastic Business Opportunities Network I’ve used WordPress daily. But all the template stuff is left to the artistic and programming genius of Dane and, thankfully, I don’t have to mess with that.
WordPress in my experience is much more tricky than blogger… more easy to foul up and keep looking extremely mundane.
If you know what you’re doing though, WordPress can make an awesome blogging platform. Combined with Akismet to suck up the spam comments, with the right WordPress knowledge, you’re ready to go.
Where do you get that knowledge?
Thanks to the Thinking Home Business blog I found just the place I want to recommend to you when you’re trying to learn how to master the bucking blogging bronco Word Press can become. It’s Lorelle on Wordpress.
So don’t let your lack of Word Press experience keep you from trying it. You’ll find alot of what you need here. And you can test it with a free blog at Wordpress.com until you feel like you know what you’re doing.
