After the 2004 Presidential election, we heard alot about “Red” and “Blue” states and counties.
But does telecommuting hold the potential to change older political demographics?
This opinion piece at least implies the answer is “yes”.
As Blue Leaning Californians with high tech skills find they can migrate to Red leaning states that tend to have lower living costs and higher qualities of living and still keep their old job you may see shifts occuring or so one Wall Street Journal op ed writer suggests.
Mr. Sager might be observing the outcome of an influx of former Californians who have found that the virtual economy allows them to telecommute from Jackson Hole, Wyo., and Bozeman, Mont.
(Of course they didn’t mention whole companies like Nissan moving their corporate headquarters from California to Tennessee and bringing half the office staff with them… so it’s not ALL telecommuting.)
