1 in 4 Canadians are working at home at least part of the time according to Canada.com

Other findings are that

*The number of workers at home is split between office workers telecommuting and work at home business entrepreneurs
*As the purchase price of a house rises, the house is more likely to have dedicated office space

*One builder of these high end homes (over $750,000) says “dedicated offices typically have their own entrance, built-in cabinetry, appropriate wiring for telecommunications and security plus their own powder room. At the really high end, Gill has seen clients call for the construction of a separate building, costing up to $200,000.”

*One realtor estimates that 40% of his clients seek homes with space adaptable for home offices up from 10% 15 years ago.

*People getting ready to retire are still planning to do some work from home.

*Home Office Support groups are emerging. One, “Home Office Support Team”, is a non-profit networking and support group in Victoria, BC.

*65% of the support groups for Home Office workers are women in Victoria, BC.
