Before Ma Huang became illegal, then legal, now who-knows-what it was a staple of the MLM diet pill industry. No self-respecting “nutritional” MLM company ever dared try to make it big and attract a huge following without the ubiquitous “diet pill” with a few proprietary ingredients to make “our weight loss pill” better than “their weight loss pill”.
This accouncement doesn’t affect an MLM company, but it does affect the diet pill industry.
It reminds all marketers – those excessive claims do catch up to you. This one to the tune of $25 million dollars.
Notably the products can keep being sold but the claims have to stop.
I wonder though if the the FTC spokesperson got FDA approval to say essentially that “diet pills never work”?
Somehow the government gets to make all sorts of untested medical claims!
