Getting Rid of High Schools

December 29, 2006 by Chuck | 0 Comments

Many people wanting to work at home do so because they are involved in Home Schooling.

They – and the emerging “Crunchy Con” generation – are skeptical of public schools’ ability to do much more than socialize children in dysfunction.

The rub comes as kids get older. Parents who could adequatly teach basic subjects want their kids to excel beyond just the basics after their character has developed enough to withstand peer pressure.

North Carolina – and other states soon – are offering the ability to get a high school diploma and Associate’s Degree by age 18.

They aren’t doing this to accomodate the Crunchy Cons… but rather to help reduce the High School drop out rates by making attendance “count” for something students crave… the ability to get out of school and make real money.

It will be a possible option though to families where mom or dad wants to work at home to accomodate home schooling as the kids get older.
