Telecommuting May Restore Local Shops, Communities

This comment was really only an afterthought in this article in the Fort Wayne IN News-Sentinal but it certainly is thought provoking.

So many people “telecommute� in Houston, for example, that the “corner drug store,� catering only to the immediate neighborhood, is returning to some of that city’s suburbs.

Can the increase in telecommuting and the ability to work at home actually be restoring local communities with smaller stores that can remain economically viable instead of the whole world having to travel to Wal Mart and other big box stores?
