I wrote about getting federal work contracts the other day.
Here I want to tell you about a free webinar put on by the U.S. government about obtaining government grants. I’ve become increasingly skeptical of the books and ebooks sold on this topic because of the difficulty of getting these grants due to their many restrictions.
If you’re still interested though, check out this free webinar. It tells you how to use and wade through the grants.gov website, the central online resource for federal government grants announcements.
The webcast, entitled, “Grants on the Line: How to Successfully Complete the Grants.gov Registration Process, aims to clarify the online grants application process and give direction on how to complete the process. The webcast will be available online during a live session for up to 200 participants on Monday, December 18 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. For more information, visit:
http://www.gov.state.md.us/grants/webcast/webcast.html
Four national experts will appear on a panel at Towson University to discuss the procedures that are required in order to successfully submit a Federal grant application online. Presenters are: Vince Sprouls (Grants.gov), Stan Dubowski (Central Contractor Registry), Brian Williams (DUNS Number), and Bill Reed (IRS). While Maryland residents are welcome to attend in person (register by sending your name and contact information to: MDGrantsOffice@gov.state.md.us ), this presentation will also be available via a live, interactive webcast. There are 200 slots that will be available on the morning of the 18th on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once the slots are filled, and for anyone who is not available to participate that morning, a taped version of the training will be available starting at 2:00 pm the afternoon of the 18th, and indefinitely afterwards.
Information on how to sign onto the webcast will be available on the homepage of the Maryland Governor’s Grants Office ( http://www.gov.state.md.us/grants/ ) no later than December 11, however no advance registration is needed and people should feel free to go to the Maryland Governor’s Grants Office website the morning of the training.
