The Secret To Getting That Government Contract

December 12, 2006 by Chuck | 0 Comments

If you can get a U.S. government contract, it can put your small business “on the map” by giving you the steady business and reliable income you need to establish yourself.

Wading through all the baloney to find actual contracts that make sense for you.

How do you do that?

1. Know where to find requests for bidders. In the “olden days” (though some of my contacts still think this thing exists and it’s their JOB to know better!) this was the printed journal Commerce Business Daily. It’s now all available online at FedBizOps.gov and you can sign up for email notifications.

Sadly, much of this stuff is in complete “governmentease”. So what do you do with it?

Don’t worry there could actually be FREE consulting to help your business sell to the U.S. government. So…

2. Look for local sources of FREE Government Contract Bidding Assistance (I’ve listed one example mentioned by the Small Business Survival Blog…look for others) Other sources for getting this type of free help are your local Congressional Representative’s office, your Small Business Development Center, or Small Business Administration contact. These sources won’t DO the free consulting but may be able to POINT you to people.
