“And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Tallahassee and Jeb Bush that all the ebayers should be taxed…”
The HeraldToday.com and AP report
The eBay community is thriving, and so are the businesses that sell stuff for people on the popular auction Web site.
Now add Florida to the growing list of states deciding how to classify and regulate those enterprises. No one can seem to agree whether they are auctioneers, pawnbrokers, secondhand shops or something else.
Why classify them as anything at all? The State has no income tax and exists from sales tax, property taxes and user fees. If they’re home based, just be glad someone has money to spend to buy things that generate sales taxes and keep the propety taxes paid up.
If they rent a shop, consider them a consignment shop and stop trying to squeeze every last nickel out of people.
