Monster.com Subsidiary Advertises On Craigslist

I’m all for advertising on Craigslist. Evidently a subsidiary of Monster.com is too.

The folks at Monster sponsor MakingItCount. You can see how they advertise on Monster.com to find presenters.

Here’s their spiel on Monster:

Making It Count, a division of Monster Worldwide, is the industry leader in “edutainment delivering more than 11,000 free educational trainings to high school students, college students, and parents nationwide. Speakers offer motivation and information to students on how to make the most of their high school experience and how succeed in college and best prepare themselves to maximize their opportunities upon graduation. By achieving these goals, Making It Count will play a meaningful role in reversing the long-term negative trends in college graduation rates and graduate employment statistics. Since 1998, we have reached more than 10 million students!

Now here’s their ad on Craigslist.

Contract speakers/presenters needed in Nashville, TN! Selected candidates will travel to high schools on an as-needed basis to deliver two 45-minute, assembly-style scripted presentations to students on how to be successful. We offer no-cost, top quality, professional training as well as compensation ranging from $100-$250 per presentation, depending on auto/air travel distance. Anticipated need is 15-20 presentations per semester from January-June 2007. For more information, visit http://speaker.makingitcount.com. The deadline to receive applications is November 17, 2006.

I didn’t make the url active because it didn’t display when I clicked through - duh!

And, they don’t mention anywhere in the full ad that this is a Monster.com subsidiary.

So I guess you could say that Monster.com quietly endorses their rival job board Craigslist.org as another good place to employers to find workers!

Update: by 4PM Central time today, the posting was “deleted by it’s author”  according to the Craigslist website.
