Jeffrey Robinson PhDIsabel M. Isidro’s blog pointed me to a great new (to me) resource on the web.

It’s the work of Jeffrrey A. Robinson, Ph.D. on wealth building and entrepreneurship. I very much enjoyed checking out his website. There is a trend in economic development called “Community Wealth Building”. Frankly in many of the publications I read from this movement, it seems less concerned with how to promote entrepreneurship and changed lives than how to skim money from existing enterprises give it to politicians to spend on their latest boondoggles and call that “community wealth building”.

What a welcome relief to find Dr. Robinson’s site! Here’s Dr. Robinson’s mission:

[Dr. Robinson] believes that long lasting change for inner city communities is stimulated when religious institutions, community leaders and business people work together toward the common goal of community revitalization. He is currently working on manuscripts related to his work on inner city business development, entrepreneurial churches, and social and institutional barriers to markets.

Sounds like a plan to me!

There are some great articles here like “The Role of Information Technology in the Economic Development of the Inner City”

Here is his power point presentation on entrepreneurship. If they have a projector and computer I can use at the Clifton Prison, I may show this to them the next time I go if I can get the good doctor’s permission and input.

A third generation entrepreneur, Dr. Robinson offers New Jersey area seminars on entrepreneurship. You might check here to see when they’re offered again.
