Using Cable Access TV To Promote Your Book

October 17, 2006 by Chuck | 3 Comments

I got an email today from Michelle Dunn a lady who got her start in home based debt collections. Now she’s writing about the business.

She’s using a Cable Access TV show to promote her book and evidently a different author per week is using the show as well. Got a book you want to promote? Maybe you can get on TV.

The show is called The Book Authority and it’s a cable-access show in central CT reaching about 200,000 homes. The show covers writing, publishing and marketing for authors.

Here’s her press release on the topic. Are there any ideas here for you writers looking for more publicity?

“The Book Authority,? is a program that looks for author’s whose work is important and airs weekly on channel 5 at 8:00 pm. Dunn taped her show on Tuesday October, 17, 2006 and it will air on Tuesday, October 24, 2006. The objective of the show is to educate its audience with personal examples, anecdotes and concrete details on writing, publishing and marketing books. “The Book Authority? features some of the best successful authors who go on to and who have had national success. New Hampshire author Dunn will discuss how she successfully obtained book deals, self published 6 books and successfully markets herself and her books. Dunn will explain steps you can take to obtain national publicity and create a “buzz? about your books that can make you successful.

The host of the show is Brian Jud who specializes in Book Marketing. His website is http://www.bookmarketingworks.com/

I have to tell you, this was a great learning experience. It was great to get inside a television studio and see how it is all done. I totally enjoyed my interview and can now use this in my press kit. I have already been asked to appear on 2 other cable programs, so word has gotten out. If you are up for a live taped interview, you should try this to promote your books, it is a great experience and now I can say “As seen on The Book Authority”. Happy Marketing everyone!

You have a serious grammatical/ punctuation error. The sentence should read:

“The Book Authority,? is a program that looks for authors…

    NO APOSTROPHE.

You’ll have to contact The Book Authority. I’m just cutting and pasting their quote. And then get a life while you’re at it.
