CellFire.com is an application on your cell phone and it sends valuable coupons directly to your phone. It’s free and actually stores the coupons on your cell phone… no need for an internet connection and you can carry the coupons around with you wherever you go.
By visiting the Cellfire web site or sending a text message to 22888, you can quickly download Cellfire to your mobile phone. They offer hundreds of dollars in coupons at great places like Hollywood Video, TGI Friday’s, Bath and Bodyworks and many more.
Simply show the Cellfire coupon on your phone to the cashier to enjoy your savings. The coupon displays a code they punch into their cash register for tracking purposes. No more clipping coupons. I always stunk at that any way. Wherever you take your phone, you can search for the discounts available where you’re travelling… great for sales people.
This is brand new, so it’s currently available only on Cingular brand phones. More brands will be served soon. Note: advertisers don’t get your cell phone address. That’s kept private.
Now besides saving you money on your shopping, I think this would be cool for local or regional businesses to use. When I visited the website, I noticed local/regional were offered… just a few right now but this could grow.
If you have a product or service that’s sold to anyone who might carry a cell phone, this could be a great way to target your ads to people who WANT discounts and at least have enough cash for a cell phone! Unlike paper coupons, when these are redeemed you know it and other demographic data from the point of sale is immediately available to the retailer such as “what else did they buy?” And it’s an oppotunity to capture a new client name and contact email if the retailer trains the staff well.
