Once in a while, we’ll use Social Media Filters like Digg, Reddit, Slashdot, etc. to promote links we think will be well received.
There’s no doubt these tools can get you bundles of traffic.
But is the traffic they send that valuable?
The question is…
1. Do they click the pay per click ads that make you money?
2. Do they buy product?
3. Do they sign up for your ezine or rss feed?
4. Do they at least leave a nice comment?
5. Do they refer other traffic?
Since these networks are free, it’s worth experimenting. Even a few new readers and exposure can really help.
Sometimes I find a reader from one service sends it to another service and things can really mushroom from there!
If they do none of the above, I have noticed you do get a wee bit of residual traffic from their search features and these are the people most likely to linger and do some business. But basically it’s a lot of traffic in a short span and then nothing.
It will at least boost you traffic stats when you apply for those CPA networks who want to know how much “traffic” you have!
So what’s been your experience? Have you tried this yet?
