In his article “Think Before You Bank On The Web” Bill Knell dispells many myths about marketing online if you’re planning to start a home business or work at home.
The whole article is worth pondering but here are some points that jump out…
1. There’s no place to make money faster – or lose it faster – than online.
2. If you depend on “one magic strategy” like Ebay, Amazon, Craigslist, etc. to make your money, prepare for the day when that magic site suddenly won’t work as well for some reason. In other words, find multiple ways to make money.
3. Reselling digital junk and “resale rights” reports is still selling junk.
4. Real world businesses anticipate disasters like fires, floods, etc. What’s your disaster plan?
5. “If you can’t sell soap to your neighbors, you won’t be able to sell it online.”
