If job growth is an indicator of the overall business climate in general, then here are some of the best and worst places to be in business. The more businesses in general, then the more likely there will be customers for service related home businesses and telecommuters.
Florida has the fastest job growth overall with the Cape Coral – Fort Myers area topping the list but also strong growth in Sarasota-Bradenton, Orlando, Lakeland and Miami-Fort Lauderdale.
Las Vegas and Phoenix aren’t doing too badly either and have been seeing strong job growth for several years. Boise, ID was in the top 10, and so was Washington, DC.
The coldest job growth market is – are you suprised – New Orleans, LA because of Katrina. Close behind are San Jose, CA and Detroit which haven’t had a Hurricane, but you might not know it from the job growth there.
These rankings are based on data from the Tampa Bay Business Journal based on midyear data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. You can read the entire Tampa Bay Business Journal article here.
