Forgive me.
It’s Friday and I just had to venture off topic a bit once I say this news story.
To stabilize victims of gun violence in Philadelphia, Schwab pioneered shorter surgeries called “damage control,” which sharply reduce blood loss and the risk of further trauma. Marathon operations that were once common often led to complications and death.
“The techniques that Dr. Schwab developed — namely damage control — have probably done more to save lives with critically ill patients than any other technique,” Pryor said in a phone interview. “I applied those techniques to our soldiers in Iraq.”
No wonder more and more people in America want to work at home and not venture out into the streets!
And probably venture out of Philadelphia to start those businesses too since the city (as mentioned by this story) was averaging about 5 gunshot traumas per day.
I had a friend who lived in Philadelphia. Before digital photography he opened a photo processing lab in the basement of his row house.
There was no additional traffic as he picked up the filt to develop on his way home from his day job.
His neighbors - probably mostly bums, dope heads, and other parasites as I recall his neighborhood - complained to the city and shut him down.
After getting pistol whipped by a crook a few years thereafter, he’d had enough of the “City of Brotherly Love” and got out.
