Mobile Entrepreneurs – What Drives Them?

I knew a Methodist preacher once who said he hoped the district superintendent would assign him to four churches – not unusual in rural areas. Why? “So nobody will ever know where I’m supposed to be,” was the answer.

By being mobile, he could dictate his own schedule and accomplish the things he felt were most important without self-appointed supervisors among the parishoners questioning his schedule.

According to Start Up Journal the increase in stay at home moms, self-employed individuals, and seniors who no longer drive or prefer to receive services at the home have increased the trend to be a mobile entrepreneur.

Being mobile can allow them to charge more per transaction and may allow them to earn as much as “land locked” businesses while doing 25% fewer transactions.

A growing number of mobile entrepreneurs are engaged in businesses like The diversity of current businesses on wheels includes pet grooming, car detailing and washing, paper shredding, gyms and shoe repairs, but there are even “Housecall Veterinarians” as they prefer to call themselves.
