I was at a seminar that was actually UNRELATED to business at all in New Hampshire, nevertheless the speaker confirmed what I suspected.
In this town, there was no public sewer.

All the homes in the area were on a minimum of 3 acres to allow for septic systems.
Needless to say, it was a bit rural… usually a hotbed of home business activity usually as a SECOND INCOME.
Out of the blue, the speaker said “What you have to realize about New Hampshire is that EVERYBODY HAS A WAY TO MAKE MONEY ON THE SIDE!”
This man frequented auctions and trafficked his findings on ebay I suspect from his passing remarks and familiarity with the local auction markets he frequented for recreation and his sophisticated knowledge of ebay.
Others were involved in logging, lobstering or fishing, pigs, cattle, goats, Maple Syrup, small engine repair, and other money making endeavors appropriate for agricultural areas.
There being no hotels around, we stayed at another home based business, the Stephen Clay Homestead Bread and Breakfast.
