ENGLEWOOD — Women who have home-based businesses now have some hometown support.

Beginning Thursday, the Women’s Resource Center in partnership with the Englewood-Cape Haze Area Chamber of Commerce will offer the Women’s Home Business Network. It will be held every fourth Thursday.

The network is a home-based business information and support group for women that began in the Venice WRC office. The group will meet from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce, 601 S. Indiana Ave.

“Everybody has an idea,” said Connie Ellis, South Sarasota County off-site coordinator for the WRC. “It’s amazing what advice other women can give you.”

The cost is $5 per person to cover the cost of presenters and any material provided.

This month’s facilitator will help guests create business ideas, think about who their customers might be and determine where their market area is.

Some of the content, Ellis said, will include information such as the 10 most important steps to becoming a successful entrepreneur.

She said each month the group meets there will be a guest speaker at the beginning of the program with a subject relating to an in-home business.

After the lecture, Ellis said, the group will hold a brainstorming session with experienced home-based entrepreneurs giving advice and support to novice businesswomen.

For more information or to register, call the Venice WRC at 941-485-9724.

The Women’s Resource Center is open Thursday afternoons in the Englewood United Methodist Church at 700 E. Dearborn St. The WRC offers several other support programs.
