Diabetic Shoes Funded By Medicare - Your Work At Home Chance?

July 18, 2006 by Chuck | 13 Comments

I spent quite a bit of time tracking this information down yesterday on this opportunity where you can have your office at home but you have to go out and meet people… and my source was a bit “closed mouth”.

Still, I think there’s enough here to show you where to look for this opportunity if it suits you.

I can’t even find this contact’s company listed on the internet… it’s an old “dirt world” business revitalized by a Medicare funding program that actually saves tax payers money in the long run.

Here’s the premise: Diabetics on Medicare access the system less, require fewer other treatments, and do better overall if they wear proper diabetic footwear with the correct inserts that allow for better circulation.

Around the world, diabetics without this treatment can have feet and legs amputated it’s so serious.

My brother, before he died at 37, had been a juvenile diabetic.

He never wore these shoes until the very end perhaps.

One time an infection got so bad in his foot and refused to heal, he was sent to a hyperbaric chamber … the pressure chamber was used to force oxygen to his extremities and did the trick.

About 11 years ago, Medicare got funding to provide a pair of these shoes plus inserts to Medicare patients with diabetes.

Evidently doctors routinely never mention this to patients… there’s a sales opportunity without asking for money. There’s no cost to the customer and they can ontain a new pair each calendar year.
If you can find one of the companies that does this. Medicare licenses different companies in each region. I found this one through a Craigslist posting.

The sales cycle from prospect to paycheck is @ 10 weeks.

If a diabetic has medicare, they sign a form, it’s faxed to their physician for approval, and  then to the company. You’re paid upon delivery when the patient signs… 4 - 8 weeks depending on the company’s orders.

The pay depends on sales volume, but is good - over $75 per pair. Reps use a variety of techniques to get business, mainly mini clinics.

The individual who introduced this to me has been in sales all his adult life… but finds this is the most rewarding and low key. He was also amazed at the sheer number of referrals he was able to obtain without even asking.

FYI…

Note, I tagged this as “Free” but it’s the opportunity that is free to sales reps. Thes shoes, though no cost to the consumer, are paid for by Medicare and it is wrong to describe them as “Free”.
