It’s hard to believe how many spam attacks even a little blog like this gets.
A few months ago Akismet was installed to automatically intercept spam comments and it’s intercepted 16351 comment spams in that time which otherwise would have to be deleted by hand.
If you have blog, you know that the big comment spammers are fully automated operations sending hundreds of spam comments in minutes, showering your blog with thousands per day.
Thankfully, this doesn’t happen every day. If Akismet is down for maintenance as happened during one such attack… watch out!
Akismet is free for personal blogs and highly recommended if you’re using Word Press.
