I was out today prowling around for home business entrepreneurs in Chattanooga, TN.
I did however, find a superior entrepreneur in the owner of River Street Deli.
This New York Style Deli on the banks of the Tennessee River is an experience my family and I would enjoy having again.
For people used to “Subway” the menu was overwhelming. The Deli made it easy by offering a free sample of the special of the day. Monday’s that’s Stromboli. The sample sealed the deal and we all ordered that. At $6.50 plus chips and drinks, that was a bit high… but the sandwich was so generous, nobody could eat their chips or deserts.
For the seriously thirsty (we reached the deli after a trek across the Tennessee River on Chattanooga’s pedestrian bridge), there’s the standard Coke products in refillable cups.
For the trendy and less thirsty, there are chic Jones Soda’s in great flavors.
Closed Friday nights for private parties, the business isn’t resting on their laurels.
The digital sign invited any business owner needing referrals to come to their special networking breakfast on Thursdays - and bring 30 business cards while you’re at it.
If I lived in the Chattanooga area, I’d be there! If you live in the Chattanooga area… visit there yourself!

I found these great reviews online for places to go while on vacation in Chattanooga. My wife and I decide to have dinner with my 5 year old and 2 year old at the River Street Deli. So its 7pm and we arrive to a filled restaurant with only one table available we are seated immediately. While waiting for a highchair for my son we were asked if we had a reservation. Since this is a deli and there was no mention of reservation requirements on the website or any review I had read I never thought one was required at a deli. Guess this staff did? They asked us to leave! YES, I WAS ASKED TO LEAVE. I HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD & A 5 YEAR OLD & THEY ASK US TO LEAVE. THIS IS NO WAY TO RUN ANY KIND OF BUSINESS. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED THIS POORLY ANYWHERE SOUTH! MY SUGGESTION WOULD BE NOT TO PATRONIZE SUCH AN ESTABLISHMENT.

I’ve never been there in the evening. It does sound strange.
