How To Start A Cyber Cafe

June 27, 2006 by Chuck | 3 Comments

I was watching CBS last night about the demise of newspaper classified advertising.

They highlighted a Cyber Cafe specializing in 3 areas…

1. Coffee

2. WiFi

3. Laundry

They called it the “Brain Wash” … and it was doing a booming business.

What fascinated me was how easily in this quasi-residential section of the city where it was located, you first floor could be your business and your second floor could be your home.

If you like living in the city, that’d be an ideal home business… or even if you’re just on Main Street USA and like living in town as opposed to being surrounded by open space.

Want to start one yourself?

If you love coffee and technology this is the business for you. The biggest rage in hip cafes today is for friends, businesspeople, and others to go to relax, study, and have meetings. Most people agree that the only thing better than a simple trendy café, is a Cyber Café.

There are a variety of reasons people frequent Cyber Café’s one of the biggest is for the relaxation time. Typically, students will frequent the café for time to themselves for studying or doing their work. Business people will take the opportunity to write repots, research information, or just in general work without the chaos and interruptions of the office. Writers will frequent the Café simply to be in an environment, which is thought provoking and different from their own environment. Others may simply frequent the Café to enjoy the atmosphere, check their email, or simply play games.

I think it’s a great idea but computers need maintenance daily, weekly, and monthly, you will have to have one attendant at least present to cater to the needs of the customers, let’s say one of them just shut the computer down and cannot start it back up. But instead of coins, they can purchase minute cards from the attendant and the attendant will have to be a reliable person, to make sure the money goes where it’s supposed to go.
