Tuesday night I’ll be at a meeting of a company seeking to open in my rural town.
They’re a national company doing medical transcription.
Due to contract obligations, the transcription must be done “in house”… no home based transcription.
I was asked if this would be a problem for people who normally want to work at home.
“No…”
Here if people want steady work in this field, they’ll have to come to a worksite. Outside the city limits, broadband connectivity is virtually zero.
To handle national medical transcription accounts, you have to have broadband access.
So people who want to work in this field getting national accounts and regular hours and paid time off will come in to the work site.
It made me realize what the new definition of “Boondocks” is in the US today though…
No DSL or broadband… you’re in the boondocks!
