How Entrepreneurs Are Coping With High Gas Prices

North Carolina realtors according to the Triad Business Journal

As a Realtor with Re/Max, Marks drives about 400 miles each week just for business. And because all Realtors, even those with large national firms, are independent contractors, Marks is not reimbursed for gas or vehicle maintenance costs.

“From a business sense, it just makes more sense to drive a sedan,” he said.

Lessons learned…

1. Leave the SUV at home and get a more fuel efficient yet business friendly vehicle

2. Purchase gasoline whenever you see a good deal

3. Some agents are considering “retainer fees” up front to offset the expenses of driving “lookers” around

4. Planning routes more efficiently

5. Spending more time working at home and travelling to the office less.

6. Don’t preview a home without a buyer visiting it with you… who knows? They might buy it!

7. Help clients screen homes online first.

8. Use faxes, emails, delivery services to get documents signed instead of driving yourself.

Consumers really are getting more and more conscious and concerned about the whole gas price issue. This has been reflected in Ford’s sales [http://fordpartsonline.blogspot.com/2006/06/more-fuel-efficient-cars-sold.html] because more and more fuel-efficient vehicles are getting sold.

I’m trying to figure out why gas prices are so high still. We just captured one of the last biggest terrorists in Iraq and the prices didn’t go down at all?…
