A Cost Effective Way To A Great Press Release

June 1, 2006 by Chuck | 0 Comments

I’ve been planning a press release for my blog for quite some time.

Why? We’ve been doing a great job from search engine traffic but frankly, I wanted more readers.  And you know how it goes with search engines, even if nobody actually reads an online press release, the back links are important in the search engine game.

So… getting real newsoutlets to publish a press release and get new readers from printworld would be my best case scenario.

Getting backlinks is an “OK” fall back option.

I determined how much I’d be willing to pay for a “first stab” at this press release in case the result is only internet back links.

I know I can get those.

So anything else is marketing “gravy”.

Anyway I’ve been planning but not doing much until before the holiday when I hired a writer to help me.

As a writer, you think I’d be able to sit down and churn out a press release. Well yes and no.

Even the best writer’s get writer’s block and I’m not the best.

Or they get too close to a project to be object or even interested sometimes.

So frankly I wanted some professional help and I’m getting it from Bryan Thompson of PRWriting.net

You see, I wanted professional input and his prices are extremely reasonable.

So he did the rough draft, I sent back my revisions and moderate payment through PayPal and as we talk he’s making the final copy. I’ll probably change it some. I tend to make things wordy and need help cleaning things up.

But here’s an important thing to remember about any professional like Bryan, a CPA, or an attorney.

You are responsible for the final product.

I really needed Bryan’s help to get my thoughts flowing about a press release. It’s I who have to read, ponder, and make changes to reflect precisely what I want to say.

Bryan - and any professional - can be a great help, but don’t transfer the responsibility for the results to someone else.

As I said, I asked for help, because I wanted a professional’s fresh perspective.

I just needed someone to look at this from a unique perspective so I could save - potentially - hours in “false starts” and banging my head against a wall.

And that’s exactly what I got.

Once you get the final product back you can tweak it some more or use it again and again and again for online distribution AND just faxing it to press outlets you gather yourself or Bryan gathers for you (nominal additional charge).

There are press release companies that charge 5 to 20 times what Bryan charges. At his price range, I consider him a perfect resource for the average home business or small business wanting help to get started with press release marketing with PRWriting.net.

Go into this arrangement knowing you’ll be doing work up front to help them write a release and that you’ll also be doing work on the “back end” to make the release come out well and you are more likely to get the results you want from your press release.

Mention this article and get a $5 discount from Bryan just for reading this blog!
