Yahoo & Ebay Team Up

Ebay, the engine of internet capitalism is parterning with Yahoo.

This should help the overture network expand search opportunities for their advertisers, but what will it do for the ebayers who are trying to run a business online?

Hopefully it will mean that their auction listings will be served up on the Yahoo search network and will get additional free exposure… we can hope anyway.

It will also allow folks shopping at Yahoo stores to pay with PayPal.

According to the Silicon Valley Business News Ebay and Yahoo are teaming up - in a fashion.

The companies said they are partnering on four major components in the areas of search and graphical advertising, online payments, a co-branded toolbar, and the “click-to-call” functionality.

The two will begin to roll out the initiatives outlined in the agreement this year. This will include a testing phase that will take place over the next several months, with a plan to achieve full implementation in 2007.

With the agreement, Yahoo will become the exclusive third-party provider of all graphical advertisements throughout the eBay.com site, and sponsored search for complementary products on some eBay.com search results pages in the U.S.

The companies have also agreed to collaborate on ways to increase the quality and comprehensiveness of Yahoo Web search results for eBay.com and to provide Yahoo search users with more up-to-date listings from the eBay.com marketplace.
