The Most Common Internet Marketing Myth

May 10, 2006 by Chuck | 2 Comments

I think the most common internet marketing myth I’ve held and encountered is this expectation that once you build a particular project that it will generate an endless stream of income and that at some point it will be “no worries”… life on the beach… cashing the check… no work.

Of course if we’re honest we have the same expectations about any business…

Do a little work, cash the check for life!

And if you can achieve that… great.

Or people hear about the affiliate making $1,000,0000 in commissions and they assume that it’s all profit… as if there were no business expenses involved… and no work either.

I find though that affiliate sales go up and down, adsense clicks go up and down, pages rank high one day and bring in good results, and rank low the next day.

That’s a bit like building a sand castle and expecting the tide to never wash it way!

Think of shifting sands and you’ll understand what the changing world of internet and real world marketing is like!

Internet marketing myths do encourage a lot of new marketers to get out there and most likely lost money; not a good thing. I would recommend that anyone new to marketing does as much research as possible before spending money on anything. Checkout my newest blog: http://www.beginningmarketing.blogspot.com for information on getting in the internet marketing business.
