Mailbox: Call Center Work At Home Tips

From my mailbox…

Seeking a WAH Job. I’m a 39 yr old disabled female seeking a business desperately.

Have clerical experience as well. Can you please help?

It’s taken me a few days to mull this one over.

Basically, people want tips about how to get a “call center work at home job”.

Fortunately she has clerical skills.

I think Bizymom’s Virtual Assistant kit has good information and website to boot.

But that may be too expensive to start off with.

As a practical matter, I’d start surfing Craigslist.org for the nearest city or cities and look under jobs.

Unless it’s a paid listing (San Francisco or NY) you’ll weed through tons of junk listings trying to sell stuff.

To advertise your services as a Virtual Assistant you can POST free ads under “small business services” or other appropriate categories.

Paul and Sarah Edwards have good information on using your home computer to make money and since you can get it for under $5 used plus postage, I think that’s worth having too.

Of course if you want to be a home based agent for a call center, you just have to start applying.

WorkAtHomeAgents.com is a good place to start. One lady here is rural TN started out with them and made $8 to $10 per hour, got some experience, and moved up to another position with a similar company earning about $15 per hour.

These rates are base hourly plus commission.

I hope that gives you some place to begin.

Working at home is a great idea. It gives people lots of freedoms they don’t have in the office, but it’s not for the easily distracted.
