Here’s an interesting, mostly home based position as a pharmaceutical rep that I saw recently and they welcomed reposting.
Here’s what struck me about the position.
1. Most pharmaceutical rep positions are for non-generic drugs. The reps go to doctor’s offices, smooze the doctors, bring lunch for the office staff, and pray the doctor prescribes these new medicines. Audits of prescriptions filled for the drug in the reps territory determine bonuses.
But are these drugs all good? Consider VIOXX.
Consider that the other day, the American Heart Association recommended simple diuretics for high blood pressure, not fancy channel blockers, etc.
This means that many times a generic alternative would help the patient as much as the fancy stuff. But who’s selling generics? Nobody. Till now.
2. This offers doctors cash flow, not just free food. Though doctors are perceived as rich, insurance issues are really hurting the ones who try to honor their hippocratic oath and serve the uninsured. This allows the unisured patient to get needed medication for the price of a co-pay and the doctor to generate additional revenue per patient.
It also tends to boost compliance with treatment.
If the patients are insured and their insurance isn’t being nickeled and dimed for generics, it would tend to keep premiums lower for every body.
In inner city, rural, or other underserved areas, this could spell the difference between a clinic closing or staying open.
3. It could prove to provide a good income on a monthly basis thanks to repeat sales.
4. Call me a softy, but it seems like it may actually HELP some uninsured working people! Lord knows they need simple, reasonably priced alternatives for medical care these days!
As always, use your own discression when evaluating an opportunity or investing in it. This is provided for information purposes only. You must make any final decision before pursuing an opportunity.

These reps give the doctors samples to provide to their patients free of charge, instruct the doctors to write prescriptions for their products then send them off to the local pharmacy to fill the prescription…what’s in it for the doctor?
The patient visiting the doctor will be presented with a course of treatment to make them well. The doctor will give them a sample of the medication, but to complete the course of treatment, they have to travel to a pharmacy, wait, sometimes as much as 2 hours for their prescription to be filled. They then pay the pharmacy a $15-$20 co-pay, if they have insurance, or more if they do not. It has been found that many patients do not follow the prescribed course of treatment because they do not want the inconvenience of traveling to the pharmacy to fill their prescription or cannot afford the high cost of the medication prescribed.
We represent a National Pharmaceutical Manufacturer/Wholesaler who specializes in providing prepackaged medication to Physician Practices, Clinics, Dental practices and Surgery Centers. This facility-dispensing program creates a “full service? environment for the doctor’s practice that allows the doctor to provide low-cost generic medication to those patients with or without insurance for the price equivalent to a co-pay. This gives the doctor peace of mind that his patients are getting the correct medication, improves compliance with directed course of treatment, insures patients are not overcharged at their local pharmacy and increases facility profitability.
We are currently looking for Independent Sales Representatives that can promote our products and services to expand our national presence. Ideal candidates have established relationships with healthcare providers and knowledge of medical office environments. Compensation is commission on product sales. Following the initial setup order, facilities reorder products directly from the manufacturer, which provides a good opportunity for a low maintenance reorder business with continued compensation.
This is a great opportunity for those who wish to add another line of product or provide this valuable service as a primary line.
Compensation: Compensation is commission on product sales. Potential over $10k pr mo.
